Chapter 7 - Digital divide

According to Statistics Estonia 58,1% of the households where at least one person was between the age 16-74 had internet connection at home. The survey was made on the first quarter of the year 2008. 67,9% of people use internet in cities and 62,4% use internet in countryside from mentioned age group.

In cities the main reasons not to have the internet where the following:
1. Too expensive computer equipments 64,1%
2. Do not know who to use the internet 62%
3. Too expensive internet connection cost 57,4%
In countryside:
1. Do not know how to use the internet 63,1%
2. Do not need it(not interested in) 57,9%
3. Too Expensive computer equipment 45,8%

Has seen from the survey lot of people are lacking in finances and do not have the internet because of it. Hopefully these people are using the internet in public places like libraries or at schools. There needs to be organized training how to use the internet and get the most out of it.
